So prophet gave this idea to me. Post widescreen fixes for old games that don't support them natively.
And post mods that enhance the graphics of the original game.

Command and conquer
So all the old cnc games are easy to fix. Go to the .ini file and change the res manually. But first start it up and change the options then go in the ini file and change it

Now cnc generals is a little harder. you have to go in the ini.big and go to general options in the file and change the height accordingly. And the res there. Bec the old way would give you probs. Will change the res but not the map height.

I also use a Samsung 24". I find the best for me is 1900x1080 or 1900x1200 but the first one is most native to the screen.
With that said my SLI 8800GTS doesnt like that high res on some of the newer games, then I stick to 16:10 resolution.

You use your native res dude. If you go lower it's starts getting blurry.

As the other guys said, it should be 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. Just check which one looks the most crisp.

They are only good for some games. Others you have to really trawl the internet. Like the heroes hd mod. And some of them require extensive editing. Like battle for middle earth.

Mmmm. For temple of elemental evil you would just change the res in the toee.cfg file. It works. And looks good as well. No problem with the text either.

that's very nice, just one thing if you run out of space you convert to just:

game title, fix type, link to actual post instead of adding the whole fix in the op :)

yes and no :D

one method is just the wide screen fix if you want the close as vanilla experience VS running it on the tutu mod
which uses the bg 2 engine and includes some extra things :)

What would you recommend?

my replay i went for vanilla because i don't like things like
unlimited stacking of arrows. still the tutu includes some nice mods
that "ease" gamplay. all depends on what you want.

you and read up on what tutu fixes, also i suppose you could just not
tick those and take advantage of the bg engine through tutu. make sure of
it not exactly sure if you could tick/untick, but i would think so :)

Tsar
16-01-2011, 08:49 PM
Would not mind the bg2 engine with it. But as for the unlimited arrows stacking:eek: but then agian you can have a hundred arrows stacked with the vanilla temple of elemental evil.

So this is to make Arcanum Of Steamworks and Magick to work with high res

1. Patch the game to 1.0.7.4 (Official Patch)(I have no clue if gog version is updated to this,I am sure it is.)
2.Patch the game with the Unofficial Arcanum Patch v091225
3. Download "High Quality Townmaps" and install it. here (http://terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=15119&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)
4. Download Arcanum High Resolution Patch 1.1a and run highres.bat.
5. Download ArcanumXNoNoise.dat here (http://www.mediafire.com/?gm2nnzz2ol1)then put it in the root folder of your game. Ex: C:\games\Arcanum

Ok can find the patches and highres mod here: here (http://terra-arcanum.com/downloads/)

going to try this one out -

DeusEx ~ Ultra High Quality Mod
http://www.helderpinto.com/blog/personal/deusex-ultra-high-quality-mod-v01.html

Increase the quality of DeusEx with this Ultra High Quality config.
I am not the author of HDTP or ENBSeries, I simply placed and tweaked those two together to achieve optimal graphical quality.
I didn’t had the opportunity to fully test this, so if you spot any flaws on my installation guide, or anything really, please let me know by sending me a e-mail.

- Better shadows and render contrast
- Bloom
- Bump Mapping
- Ambient Occlusion
- Specularity
- Very high quality textures
- Lightning improved

Installing
1. First of all, make sure you install HDTP-Release1 into DeusEx folder. (After install, it should create a HDTP shortcut on your desktop, if not, go to the game’s system folder and make one, you’ll be using HDTP.exe from now on)
2. After that, copy all the contents of the folder “DeusEx Ultra High Quality Mod Files”, and paste it inside the folder “System” on the game’s folder. (Replacing all the existing files)
You will have to edit the file HDTP.ini, search for the line that says “CdPath=J:”, change the letter “J” for your CD/DVD drive where DeusEx CD is placed.
3. Run HDTP.exe, the game should start, now go to Settings -> Display -> Rendering device, click “Show all devices” on the “DeusEx Video configuration” window, and select “Direct3D9 Support”.
4. Now, go back to settings, and select your favorite graphics resolution, and make sure to select 32bit on “Texture Color Depth”.
5. Select new game, and try it out. Pressing Shift + F12, disables and enables screen effects.

Change Log & Bug Fixes

Version 0.1 ~ release 07-10-2008
First official release

Notes:

- VERY IMPORTANT: Do not forget to edit the file HDTP.ini, search for the line that says “CdPath=J:”, change the letter “J” for you’r CD/DVD drive where DeusEx CD is placed.

- You wont be able to use your old save files after installing HDTP.
- Press Shift + F12, to disable and enable screen effects. This is useful to be able to better see the menu, due to exaggerated bloom.
- To tweak the bump mapping, press Shift + Enter, you should see 6 options on the top of the screen, press a number from 1 to 6, and use PageUp and PageDown to tweak.
- To tweak the D3d9 settings, press T, delete the “say” text, and type “preferences”. Go to “Rendering” -> “Direct3D9 support”, and tweak away
