Mmmmm...I don't see this happening..not ever.
The Ps3 is quite a sexy looking machine, very sleek and looks awsome in black but a slimmed down version would just look crap.
Besides the only way Sony will be able to cut costs on the Ps3 is if they sell it with a cheaper blu ray drive..which won't happen.

Seems highly unlikely to me. Still way too early for a new model to make an appearance.

I call fake on this one.

If Sony's gonna make a slimline version, it'll be far sexier than that.

I think it might be true but the slim PS3 looks damn ugly.

Assuming this is real, I'd be incredibly annoyed. Just release one damn console instead of finding fancy ways to boost sales.

I'm sceptical.
SONY has tended to release a slimmed-down version of its consoles later on their life-cycles.
Then again, they are in the unfamiliar position of facing strong competition in the form of the XBox 360, so perhaps SONY are banking on increasing sales and profits with a new model which is significantly cheaper to manufacture than the existing one. If the images posted are an indication of what it will look like, I don't think that dropping the glossy finish is a bad thing.

Ive said it once and i'll say it again, there is no need for a slimmed down version of the Ps3.
Sony won't and can't afford to put it into production.

Im with Joker on this one. If you look at the issues Sony had finishing/financing the normal ps3 slimming it down would be a challenge. Plus its normally expensive to make things smaller so wouldn't they lose out if the slim was cheaper than the normal ps3? If its real and its cheaper than the current ps3 then +1 to the Japanese. If not... big woop.

It won't be cheaper, smaller is usually more expensive!!
Smaller tech usually costs alot more to produce because of the smaller parts ect.
There is no need for a slimmed down Ps3!!!!!!

Agreed , Also if you look at the PS2 Slim to The normal PS2, The are major differences in the shape and the technology on the inside. The PS3 "Slim" in that pic looks almost exactly the same to the normal PS3 Just a Bit shorter.
I personally think they the might make a slim but not any time soon.
