The beta isn't live yet but you can join the pool so long, maybe one of us will be lucky enough to get picked and can share his experiences with the game.
All you have to do is to sign up on battle.net link one of your blizzard games to the account. All you have to do is you enter your cd-key on the site.
*Nifty thing is you can then download the game from the site as well, happy for when you misplace your discs or they become scratched.*
Then download the 1mb file for the beta-opt in which will send your pc specs to blizzard and congrats you are now in all of blizzards beta pools. Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, WoW etc.

Will be a pointless leak then. It's gonna be a multiplayer beta only. I suspect that they gonna leave out the LAN option entirely and that you'll only be able to play if you login to the bnet 2.0 server.

Won't be pointless. You can make your own realm, play over internet with friends using hamachi or lanbridger. Personally for me i can try and get strats so long ;)

Battlenet 2.0
No LAN
They already said that they gonna remove LAN from Diablo3. Won't be suprised if they do the same for Starcraft. So Hamachi and all that stuff is gonna be out of the question.
According to them this is gonna make Battle.net 2.0 secure as hell. No more "private servers" to hang around in.
Basically we gonna be forced to play with high latency here in South Africa.

they won't remove lan from starcraft 2. It would just be stupid. And blizzard are not that dumb.
I never had latency issues when playing war3 in the international circuit.

2-3 seconds delay is an issue...
Also played on the international blizzard servers a few years back. Was at a huge advantage with dota and melee where reaction time counts like stomping wth the tauran...Unless you speaking of Garena and an unpshaped internet account.

You typically sign / agree to NDA's when taking part in BETA's (unless it is an OPEN BETA) or typically any private contracts / agreements.
So, if you decide to say something or 'leak' info, don't be surprised if you are caught out and lose your whole account or maybe something worse even (yes, I know you can easily create another account or use different details).
Just saying...

They will never remove LAN from StarCraft 2 reasons being...
1. Its way to big in Korea and they dont connect to battle.net when hosting comps such as the Intel Classic League.
2. I highly doubt that LAN organisers such as dreamhack (which blizzard do go to promote) connects to the internet and ppl play on there.
Just my 2c

I play war3 1v1. Dota delay you can get away with but having to micro manage a 30 unit army is beyond comprehension for most people that play war3 in SA.
Yeah i do use an unshaped account for gaming.
