I haven't had an issue myself...yet *grabs onto wood with all his might*

I'm not sure on the import charges though to be honest.

lydon from which site do you import?

one of my friends who imports ps3 games, has had no issues, but i know on occasion he gets charged extra fees when he goes to pick 'em up from the PO

You were taxed illegally. There shouldn't be an import tax on that.

I've imported from UK, only had one parcel go missing but thats cause Royal Mail is dodgy sometimes. Haven't paid customs on any of my packages though and took about 7-10 working days to get to me.

???????????

my mate runs a delivery business and he said its about right. HE has to import stuff sometimes and drive around and deliver it, and he confirmed paying close to R1000 bringing a GTX925 in a couple of weeks ago!

yeah was a long wait. even got hold of customs themselves, a very friendly lady, and she helped alot, otherwise it would have taken longer

well it depends on whether customs feels like taxing. i got taxed about 10% of the value when buying from the virgin islands, but customs taxed me on something that came from ocean shores but said it came from the virgin islands. i took customs on about this complaining that i hadn't been taxed on various things. i was told that "they never make a mistake and that you can't get anything for free" i.e. you are supposed to get taxed on everything that comes into SA. but as a lot of my stuff from overseas was just posted in my box you never know. i do know that since i complained one of my orders hasn't arrived (and i never lost anything before), paranoid well of course. but to answer your question: hope you don't get caught by customs and think about 10% of the value that has to be declared on the customs sheet.
