Some of you will have noticed that MyGaming and MyBroadband were both down for about 30 minutes earlier today.
The downtime was caused by the MTN datacentre where the sites are hosted going down due, apparently, to a power failure, and then problems with the backup generators.
We appreciate your patience in matters like these :)

I dont care, well I do, as I came here naturally to go to the igame forum, to complain about the server going down. Now dont tell me mtn has anything to do with my fav cod4 servers going down, cos if u do, i will start shouting bloody murder(and an axe in my hand), with a piece of cardboard with the following writing: DEATH TO THE EVIL CAPITALIST. In front of mtn.
On a serious note: I thought igame is a gaming service provided by iburst.

Ya, all the servers we have at Hetzner disappeared at about the same time as well. Their datacenter's in the same building as MTN

iGame servers are hosted in MTN data centre. It's a temp thing apparently.

I fully endorse this type of mutiny.

Our Servers spam a number of DataCentres and locations across South Africa
The iGame Core Active servers are hosted out of MTN Data Centre at this time before being moved back to our Gallo Manor DC after maintenance
The pwer outage wreaked havok, not only on available services but on routing across the country
A great many systems and services are still recovering from the effects

@ Tin man
Wow, never knew that.
@xero, all
Shot, its bigger than I(most of us?) thought. Nice to have someone in the loop of knowledge.
At least I have WAGE. Also, I think quickshare was down too.
I hope the person responsible for the neglect of backup generators, and backup backup generetors or maintenance feels the wrath of the angry mobs(not mtn, they cool).

So is there a chance that Mygaming and MyBB will be giving away free stuff to all their users? - you know in line with what Sony and S2 did after their respective downtimes ;)

Don't think I have a sig, thought I did though. How do I make it quoted like that? I've seen more epic ones around though

James, I wanted to go with INFEST but I thought that someone might quote me later on:)
In regards to the issue, this happens form time to time, we normally see a quicker recovery, although this time was on a larger scale than normal

Actually ... the datacenters had - by the time they went down - been running on backup generators for about 3 hours already - this is according to a notice we got from Hetzner. So you can blame Eskom.

Verizon's in there as well. It's always a huge issue when that data center goes down
