Hi all the gamers I'm looking for programmers and want to be developers. Come on lets get the talent out there and start doing what we love. I'm an adicted gamer and but I can't help it I love it but I want to this as a full time job.

Imagine doing what we love and getting paid for it. I also know that starting your own game developing company is not going to be easy but "what te hell" I want to that and I'm going to.

Join me and lets start

Pietervas, I saw your post about wanting to start a game development company.

Just a couple of questions.

Are you starting a serious business? Will you be paying salaries or would people be paid afterwards? What kind of game will you be creating and which tools and engines will you be using?

Solitude, thats the thing I'm starting out and I'm looking for partners to do all the planning and thinking together. Have a couple of game ideas, engines and stuff not a clue, but who's perfect and all new businesses go through start-up problems.

This is just to see if there are any interest at all and from there we can work

My strategy is this:

Looking for +- 10-15 people all over SA.
E-mailing or skyping each other what ever the mediam may be.
Discussing a game ganre?
Deciding who does what?
Have a get together, where ever?
This is going to be a musketeer thing.
Getting sponsers from big gaming companies and magazines like PC Format and Nag.
I've got most of the details sorted.
Come on I need more ideas more people, please.

Pietervas I have about 5 years on and off experience in Game Maker, as well as the Torque Game Engine (http://www.garagegames.com).

I have no main speciality, but i enjoy spriting as well as the odd level design. Also, I'm a graphic designer and have worked at Luma ( game company in randburg ), doing sprites, menu's and such.

I'm on skype, duncanbellsa@gmail.com

Thanks

I highly doubt you're going to get any sponsorship without any product, business plan, game ideas or anything. Once something starts surfacing and we have something that people would be willing to pay money for, sponsorship could certainly work.

I think it would be fair for all those who participate in the creation of said game, whether as a programmer, artist or tester, to receive a copy.

I agree but thats why I started this blog so that all who wants to be part of this can give their views and help on product, business plan, game ideas or anything

lets have a meeting then?
I'm a programmer but I don't program anymore been off for about a year. So its mostly when the need arise or as a hobby. I'm a business analyst, so client facing is great on my books - i can probably look at sponsors etc etc...also some of the risks attached.

Guys not to burst any bubbles etc, but as a developer with some titles under my belt, before you do ANYTHING else you need to decide on an engine.
The engine is key to realizing any project as you are limited by what the engine can and can't do.

The choice of engine determines whether or not you'll be doing a side scrolling puzzle jumper or a arcade match 3 title.

I've seen many projects start like this one, one guy pists and says "let's make a game, I'm sure we have the talent"
and yes while that may be true, talent I'm afriad only gets you to the starting line.

Without a clearly defined framework and core team working on this, you won't be making much progress.
