Wolfenstein Leaked (http://www.ggmania.com/?smsid=27598)
A post by id Software's (http://www.wolfenstein.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=773) Peter Sokal on the Wolfenstein Forums reveals a multiplayer build of Wolfenstein has been leaked (http://www.torrentzap.com/torrent/556172/Wolfenstein+2+MP+BETA+iNterNal). It remains to be seen if this leak will affect sales of the game which is due for release later this month.

It was brought to our attention on Friday, 7/31 that a build of the Wolfenstein Multiplayer was leaked and is now being distributed illegally through breach of NDA and mirrors posted on the internet. I must warn anyone involved that Activision’s legal department is taking this matter very seriously.

Same applies here on the forums. If you mention that you have acquired this build, you are openly admitting to illegally obtaining the build and will be banned straight away. You have been warned.

With regards to any footage, screenshots and comments posted here and all over the internet, an important thing to keep in mind is that these were not created from a build of the game that was final or consumer ready. There’s nothing we can do about it now except continue working on the game.

Wolfenstein has been designed to retain elements that are the core of the Wolfenstein multiplayer experience, such as distinct classes and objective-based teamplay. We are also introducing new elements to the game with the Veil powers and persistent upgrades. After release we’ll make our SDK available, as well as release updates to address feedback from the competitive community.

We look forward to seeing you online upon release.

carelesness comes to mind

Kinda sucks actually, pirated before release dates makes companies mean about protection. Sad news actually

(i expect piracy like a day or two after release date, but pre-release is always horrible, destorys the excitement and makes legit players feel like they have to wait for just being legit [happened with me and C&C3, waited on my order to arrived and pirate friends were already playing it] :()

It is. That is why companies go to extremes to prevent it. i can bet u activision did the same and thats why SC2 doesn't have lan.

On a slightly unrelated note, what are the rules regarding "acquiring item a/b/c from your local store" on mygaming forum? Couldn't find much in the rules.

What is sad is you can download the games these days before the official demo is even released. I empathise with Peter Sokal, all that development time almost seems wasted.
I enjoyed the first wolfenstein, and will definately be picking this up at my local store.
I dont see the big deal in pirating new titles, if the game is good, and you enjoy it, go BUY it. PC Games especially are anything but expensive.

you mean this one? (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/69/Wolf3d_pc.png) :p

go BUY it.

Easy to say when you actually earn a decent salary. It's mainly varsity students and teenagers that pirate alot. You'll find that people that earn money usually spend money on a title they really want and enjoy.

Yeah it is things like this that make developers favour consoles, since it is somewhat more difficult to pirate for them.

Most people I know (including myself) are a little too worried about any complications when chipping their consoles; which is unlike the ease of a PC where all you need is the game files in some form, and a crack. Nice and easy like! YAAAR!!

Can't recall the last time I supported piracy in gaming...
