Well I bought an 8.ta modem last week because I found out I have 8.ta 3G coverage and it has only been running on MTN network, i then found out that I only have 3G coverage 2m outside my house door and I was wondering if there isn't a Signal antenna or something of the sort that I can use to get it all the way into my room (Where my pc is located)

I'm also having this issue (outside my room though)... I'm going to try using a usb extension cable for my usb modem and I'll place it where I get the best reception... Maybe you should try this as well (I'll update if I get results).

PS: Update the thread if you try it...

Yeah I had the same questions a few days ago since i wont be having ADSL at my new home, So i did some searching. Also teasted the increasing the USB length and placing it somewhere closer to reception, did improve a little, however its best to have it outside due to the amount of EMI in your house cause signal bouncing.

Dont know if this is going to sort your issue out, but maybe give them a shout and ask if you can return it if it doesnt work.

Believe it or not, use a strainer. Cut a hole in the center of the strainer to hold the usb stick, slap it in and then with a usb extension hang it by the window.

Went from 21% signal strength to low 90%.

Will post a picture of mine tonight :)

This is awesome! I need to get my dad to use one like this, his signal (http://elektron.host.sk/transmisja.html) is terrible at his house!

oh ya I did the strainer trick too a little while ago and elevated it with a mic stand, worked a charm.

Unfortunately, those come with a very steep price tag

Oh wow! That's strainer trick is great. I'm certainly going to remember that one xD

It reminds me of this trick to improve your Wi-Fi coverage at home.

Just an update: I tried the strainer trick last night with my 8ta sim. The signal went from 0/5 bars to 3/5... which averages as a 2-5 meg line... I'm still in shock:D

I could even play ME3 multiplayer last night with no lag

Glad it worked :) Ill let you know if i come across anything else since im always messing around with my 3G

Idea i want to actually try but dont think it will work for me (since im already nearly at max signal), if you can try this dee.

Take the strainer cover it with foil (but u still got the hole for the usb), technically that should take all the signal that is actually going through the strainer and bounce it to the 3G

If you have a small fortune of extra cash you want to get rid of you could also try a 3G router with an external antenna. Worked for me.
