It's not my xbox that runs via route sentry - it's my pc.
The difference is, to use route sentry - your router config must be changed to dialup mode.
It should be possible as others do it - and you'll see in your xbox config there is place to insert your dsl's username/PW - which you dont normally have to do if the router is set on always connected mode.

Yeah, I'll look into that. I've not yet had to do it myself (trips to the UK with my Xbox HDD FTW :P), but most of my friends have.

Yes, it's about R450 per year.

And do you then have to buy your MS points seperate or do u get X amount per month or something?
Azimuth
17-09-2009, 02:31 PM
You buy them. With SA not being an official LIVE region, however, you can't get buy them through the Xbox dashboard on credit, you have to go through third party retailers instead. There are quite a few reputable sites for this - including www.gamepointsnow.com and the local www.mspoints.co.za.

Gears matchmaking is notoriously slow. Assuming your router config is happy, it's probably just a case of ... well, not finding any games. :P
The best way to join games is to add people to your friend list, and join their games. Check out the lists on xbox360gamers.co.za (http://www.xbox360gamers.co.za/) to find other people playing the games you want to play. :)

You may need to do some port forwarding, I had a similar problem and solved it by doing so.
Can be done easily using the walkthrough on this site http://www.portforward.com/

But ...
UK: 2100 points x 249 = 0.118571429 Rands/point
US: 1600 points x 215 = 0.134375 Rands/point
UK is cheaper.
Also, do you need a Gold/Silver/Whatever account to be able to download games from XBLA?

We did run the test to see if he could connect to live in that network test.
I let him change the Ip Address to static.
Could it be he already set up live and now trying to set up live right that there is a conflict?
Edit:
He did not set up the pc yet for live or maybe that was for the media centre,(don't think that matters just mentioning it)
No offense but its hard to trouble shoot a issues when we have nothing to go by. I have help a fair share of people getting online over the phone and e-mail. You need to take pictures write every step down and post it here upto the point were you hit the wall then we can help properly.

I don't suppose anyone here has Neotel and use's xbox live. I have Neoconnect Prime and having issues trying to get a connection going.

I gave up on this. Basically my network card is fooked. Whenever I go into the properties of my network card it gives me a popup window saying that all properties have been disabled because another 'Properties Window' is open even though there isn't one. However, I think the problem may just be that I was connecting my xbox directly to my PC and not through a router.
So I'm going to give that a try this weekend.

It is possible to connect your Xbox through your PC, because I used to do this myself, running my Xbox via my laptop with an iBurst modem. You use the (admittedly horrible) built-in Windows Internet Connection Sharing function. You can try using this, but it's a bit of a pain to set up and it comes with its own problems. If you're using any sort of firewall software, this can seriously interfere with connecting to Xbox LIVE games online, since it'll block the service ports and incoming IP connection requests. There are also ways around this, but it's a bag of cocks.
Your much better option is to buy a router that can connect to a USB modem. It'll save you a lot of problems in the long run.
