Hi guys,

A "quick" STEAM question if you please:

I've read that FEAR 2 requires STEAM to run - a fact that I wasn't aware of till I visited this site - I managed to install Left 4 Dead without problems on another internet PC in my house, one that is always in use by other people who live there so I don't get much time to play. The other PC (my own) doesn't have internet at all - what I normally do with games that require securom and all that junk is just move my case to the modem and connect the network cable from the other pc to mine, like I've done recently with Dead Space, Warhead and Far Drive 2, run the game once and then it works normally without the internet.

Would STEAM be able to work on the same principle? That is install a game via STEAM and then play the game in offline mode on an internetless PC?

yes and now. Some games as far as I know still need the active internet for DRM type of things.

Other games like Halflife 2, you update it then you can play offline mode afterthat, until the next couple of updates.

As long as the game is 100% up to date on steam you can play in offline mode.

I think we will see more Steam required games, I for one love steam if SA telecoms will just get of their holy thrones and give us world class bandwidth and pricing.
