This is what is commonly referred to as post-padding (or spam) since it is a pointless post that doesn't contribute to the thread and is very plainly meant to just get your post count up so you qualify for comps. And then nasty bastards like me come along and disqualify you because ... y'know ... spam.

It would be nice, but it's not a standard vBulletin feature. We don't use plugins as they have the fantastic tendency to break everything, and vBulletin does not support your forum if there are 3rd-party plugins installed.

Yeah, it's a nice feature, but I find it more useful on bigger forums, like The Escapist. On a smaller, slower forum like this it might be a little redundant, because threads don't tend to disappear quite so fast.

It maybe just me being international but MyGaming has been loading awfully slow the last 2 days. As in more than 60 per page sometimes. The rest of the sites I brows open at normal rates.

It's not only international ... I've been noticing it on my side as well. Mostly it's fine, but some days the site takes forever to load.

I've looked into this and there is logic behind the decision. It is to prevent pages from taking too long to load. If each user posts 4 videos per post, and there are 10 posts per page, then that's 40 videos that need to be fetched, and this can slow down loading times.

So, just post another reply for each video ;)

The reason there is an image limit, is to prevent smiley spam and keep the forum performing optimally. I've increased it to 6 and we'll see how it goes.

Another reason we keep these limits low is to keep the forum loading smoothly and quickly; this applies to videos as well.

If you consider that there are 10 posts per page, and at maximum there could now be 6 pictures per post, you can imagine how the loading time will be slowed when the forum is trying to pull in 60 images, or 10 videos.

I doubt loading 10 or 20 video previews will really do much to the forums performance since you're loading from very high performance servers. I understand the logic I just don't think it's really that much of a problem and you can't always go by worst case scenarios. *Also I'm fairly sure the previous limit for videos was 2 and I don't recall things breaking. :D

For me it makes less sense forcing someone to make 3 separate posts if they want to post 3 videos than to just allow 2/3 in one post, especially when it's relevant to the topic at hand and you're trying to put together a good amount of content. Considering this is a gaming site this type of media should be important. :)

Anyways, I get it, I just likes me my multimedia contents. :D

Here is a thought.... just a thought mind you, but Lord of the Rings War in the North Launched back in November, it is now pretty much April. Now it could just be me but Im rather fed up of the dude from War in the North Staring back at me 4 months down the line, isn't it time for say something Witcher 2-ey or Diablo 3 or something? Don't know if this has been requested but when Diablo 3 does launch please could you guys do a breakdown of how much bandwidth the game uses in a set play session and what the lag is like over different speed connections.
I am wanting to cancel my pre order of the game and adopt a wait and see approach so that I do not waste money on a game I may not be able to play until I get my own reliable internet at home (however it does allow me more money to get Risen 2 Collectors).

Oh and please bring back the Mygaming shop. I want to spend and support :)

Forum. Alot of new thread use Tags but you have to look for that thing czc posted. That exact thing except appearing at the bottom of the main forum page would solve the issue. Was looking earlier for a Thread on Trails Evolution but the search didn't reveal anything thought a tag cloud would make things easier, especially for hot topics like big games, D3, etc. might mean we get less duplicated threads.

I know this is a bit much, but I've seen it on other forums. Include a "search for thread name option". This can help people find the information that they're looking for without starting a new thread and then we won't see the occasional thread that someone started months ago, started by a newer member

There is a working forum search feature, and google itself can do wonders for finding threads on the forum.

People don't start new threads on old subjects because there isn't a search feature. They start new threads because they're too lazy to use the search feature or go looking for a similar thread themselves.

Hmm the 20 post issue, I suppose you could make it so only people who had 20 posts when the competition was made should be allowed to enter. That would stop people seeing an interesting compo and then spamming to 20 posts just to enter, might force them to actually participate in the community before entering.

Yeah but that would also negate any positive effect the comps are meant to have, which is to draw in more people as more people means more exposure for whoever is sponsoring the comp which in turn means more great comps. So its more a case of deal with the few retards that spam or give up the awesome comps. The only person(s) who would not be affected should this happen would be me & MissM since we are both outside of the UK and thus can not enter the comps.

There will always be those who try and bend the rules for competitions and the first thought is to implement rules to try and prevent that happening. However, too many rules can be to the detriment of bringing in new members that actually want to be part of the community - over the years a number of regulars have found their way here because of the competitions.

There will always be rule-benders and competition trolls, and extensive rule conditions for entry won't stop them - they just ignore the rules anyway because they think they can somehow outwit the admin team.

Good news is that we have been doing this for a long time and we are pretty wise to their tricks and can spot them easily.

Besides, without competition trolls to hunt, OmegaFenix would go nuts with boredom!

Yea I click it every time. I found the problem though, or I seem to have, it's my browser Opera 12.01 (latest version) some settings must be all FUBAR, I was adding headphones to a wish list and every time I clicked add I had to log in over and over again.

Logged in with Chrome and did'nt get logged out, will have a look later today a Opera's settings, and see if there is anything I need to change.

I'm not really sure myself. More competition prizes for console gamers, I suppose? That's what seems to attract most people to the forum anyway. Console games as prizes would be awesome since they're a tad more expensive than PC games. Well that's just my input :)
