Yes this is probably a pressing question on many peoples minds. It is on my mind constantly and my buddy ChameleonDevil, well he is on the verge of a nervous breakdown from anticipation. Soz dude, it's true!

So when will Guild Wars 2 be released?

Well let me give you a educated guess...

BUT FIRST SOME STUFF YOU NEED TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION BEFORE I TELL YOU!

Well ArenaNet have gone the path of Duke Nukem For(N)ever with it's statement of "When it's done!" - I almost cried when I heard this!

But they have been releasing lot of information last year and started this year off with a bang.

Last year we saw 4 professions revealed, the demo, awesome video & gameplay footage, 2 books, etc.

Guild Wars Beyond
This is the bridging of the Guild Wars & Guild Wars 2 worlds and lore. So therefore it is safe to assume that these series of events need to be completed before Guild Wars 2 is released.

We are currently waiting on the Canthan part of the story and after that it should be the Nightfall bridging story.

Then when that's done, probably the destruction of Ascalon (again) and the founding of Ebonhawke by Gwen and Thackery.

So then the game can be released?

NO!

The Books
The third book should be released by June/July 2011...

The first two were released about 6 months between one another so it should be safe to assume that June/July should be the time it is released.

Guild Wars - 6 years old
Guild Wars is turning 6 in April 2011 and a lot of people thought the most likely date for release would be on the anniversary of the first game's release, but that seems impossible now.

The 6th birthday will be huge and another event that will add some new stuff to the world of Tyria and again probably bridging more of the story between the two games.

Guild Wars 2
Now whilst all the above is going on there will be another expo at PAX and a fresh new demo. No I suspect we will see another profession released at PAX.

Meanwhile until then we will be kept busy with the race weeks that ArenaNet have launched.

They started with the Human week and are continuing with the Norn week.

Last should be the Sylvari week, then PAX and new profession reveal.

Hopefully after that we will be getting the last 2 professions within 2 months time, this should be around May 2011, then the new book.

They will then reveal more info on the WvWvW and PvP systems with video, blogs, skills, etc.

Each of these probably a month apart from each other...

Beta
There will be a closed Beta and a public open Beta (probably just for the Americans and Germans) -.-

Lest's give them 2 - 3 months for the Beta testing etc and a release announcement after that.

Release Date
I obviously can't give you an exact date, but I can say this with everything still being done and that still needs to be released, we will be lucky if we see it before December 2011 - which is my best bet for a release date, but I thnk next year will be the year of Guild Wars 2.

I just hope we get the game before the end of the world in 2012
