Was anyone else experiencing some hectic graphical lag last night? In BWE3 I had very very little to no lag, even in huge WvWvW battles, but last night the minute I switched the graphics to high I got some insane frame rate drops. It seemed to improve a little as I played but still...it was quite worrying.

I had graphics glitches.. The floor and mobs disappearing, hectic pop-up, and generally models flickering on and off. In GenChat it sounded like others had the same issues :/ Maybe that's why another stress test is already planned.

Well the performance isn't where it should be yet. It definitely seemed to be improved, but my fps would take a dive from 60 down to 34 depending on where I was looking.

The game is still overly dependant on the CPU atm (at least in my case), I had a look and my CPU usage (Phenom II x4 965) was sitting at 70% usage while my GPU (Radeon 7850) was twiddling it's thumbs at no more than 52% usage.

Clearly a lot of the rendering still needs to be offloaded onto the GPU from the CPU, even changing my settings from Highest to Lowest resulted in zero increased fps which clearly indicates it's still very CPU bottlenecked on my setup.

What are the rest of you experiencing as far as performance?

Yeah I had those as well! The grass and other plants were flickering in WvWvW and for some reason when zoning into WvWvW and walking down the steps, it was almost like I was rubber-banding forward. It's weird...it seems so much buggier than the last beta.

I had improvement upon switching the graphics lower, but I mean going from running everything on Ultra in BWE3 to having to run it on medium for respectable framerates is a bit weird!

I had similar issues ... the one NPC I was fighting with was doing some mad headspins on the floor while fighting

But performance-wise, I can't say that I had any problems, although I've got my settings fairly low because I'm doing this on my lappy. My PC is 2,100kms away from me atm

Btw ... another stress test tonight - this one starting at 1AM our time - if I have my math done properly.

Yeah 1am is correct, I'm not going to bother.

Downloaded the AMD Catalyst Application Profiles driver, which seems to have done wonders for Guild Wars 1 (where I'd get FPS drops in towns with a lot of people), so here's to hoping I can test GW2 at 1AM tonight and have a performance boost

Despite swearing off beta totally, I jumped into the stress test to see how my aged system would handle it and was surprised to see that GW2 is running DX9, must say I am happy, my little GPU has issues with DX11 features, can run them but at an patience melting 5fps etc.

Ran nicely, everything turned max, granted I ran around the Asura starting area for a short bit, but was chugging along nicely at 20-30fps, which is fine for me, the human eye cant see better thean 25fps anyways.

While that's true it doesn't stop one from percieving the higher fps. The difference between playing a game at 30fps and at 60fps is like night and day and is very clearly visible, it also affects how the game feels (smoothness).

Last night while testing - my fps would drop from 60 to 30 when swinging the camera to a more graphically intense area and the effect it has on the game is extremely noticeable.

The argument of the human eye only seeing 25fps has no real merit when it comes to fps in games. Granted you're fine with your current fps, but trust me, when GW2 is running at 50+ fps the game and especially the combat feels so much better.

I'd say 60fps (maybe higher since I remember when playing UT2004 years ago I could "feel" the difference between 60 and 80fps on a CRT monitor that could do 85Hz) is the cap it which we stop perceiving a difference in fps in games.

Edit: To anyone getting headaches after playing the game for a long stretch, I found that in my case it was the FXAA. All the FXAA does is blur the entire image in order to hide the jagged edges, so it makes the game actually look worse too.
