Go for Graphics! Rather have a smoother game with higher resolutions and better looking graphics!

I cannot believe people say SSD. I mean, really. Get the GPU. That is an actual performance increase FPS wise in games.
Guys can someone please tell me, those of you who say GET SDD.
Except for windows / program load times and game loading times (which is generally only like 10-20 seconds anyway) what else makes SSD's so great?
As far as I can tell it ONLY increases loading times of windows/program/games. Not actual FPS in game or anything.
So how can getting an SSD be a priority over a GPU that will actually push your game above 60fps and will therefore give you a smooth gameplay experience compared to a laggy one.
Is it really more important to load in 3 sec instead of 10 sec than to have a smooth experience while actually gaming?
I do understand why people get SSD's, but I do not understand how anyone could possibly choose a SSD over a needed GPU upgrade....For GAMING.
In this case id say a GPU like joker suggested the 6870 is the best thing ot go for it is pretty much 2 x upgrade for his current GPU. I would then sell that GPU and buy a 64GB SSDSo both problem sorted?
Ive got a SSd and a 580GTX
MY SSD trumps my 580 GTX for the best upgrade ive made for my pc.
I reboot my pc in less than 10 seconds. It takes longer for my bios to post than for my pc to boot.
If i get the old good BOSD i am back in game before the round ends .
Also on the HDD makes no difference to fps. ... CSB bro
It doesnt directely affect the fps no BUT
IF i install cod 4 on a normal sata 2 or 3 HDD 7200 RPM my fps bounces between 230-250 mostly on 250 but still bounces around
on my SSD it is 250 constant![]()
You explain that![]()
Why not just sell the 5770 and use that money to get a better gpu then a 6870?
I say gpu all the way. No game will require a solid state drive. Games will require a better gpu.
Simon Says: When you read this you will +1 me coz I am just that awesome that even the stupid stuff like this that I say deserves a +1
Sup folks, thanks all for the feedback.
I thought it over and did some research and decided that I'll definitely be getting BOTH for the upgrade
I've put down an order for a 60gig SSD so hopefully it will be arriving tomorrow. The SSD will be a good investment in the long run in terms of productivity.
On the GC front, I've decided to wait a little longer for the new HD7000s to come out and probably upgrade from there (HD7850?). My HD5770 has served me well and still does! Will be sad to let her go.
Coheed, just do some research or let these okes help you with SSD choice. Some SSD's you get some BSOD on apparently. Like cranky pointed out with "If i get the old good BOSD i am back in game before the round ends"
I have a standard 7200RPM hdd and i boot win7 professional in 15 sec. Have not had a BSOD since I installed the windows last year sometime....
@OP - Good on you for getting both :P
Lol.
I'll make a vid for you later on with loading a level :P
Yes a GPU will give you better visuals, but who plays on anything other than low detail settings in BF3 on multiplayer anyway?
Sorry, this nerd rage does not compute.
I guess I know from experience? Having my rig as it is now, the SSD was the last upgrade I had. It made a HUGE performance boost overall. You also forget RAM caching/Virtual RAM that happens.
With an SSD and RAM caching, your whole gameplay experience WILL improve as well as opposed to having a crappy mechanical hard drive as a main OS/games drive.
