Selecting a Power Supply Unit for that monster gaming Rig you are building or for your new upgrade can be a daunting task, there are hundreds of possibilities and a lot of technical jargon that may make very little sense to the average gamer, but there are a few guidelines to look at if you are thinking of buying or upgrading this critical component.

One such guideline is 80 PLUS certification
80 PLUS is an initiative to promote energy efficiency in computer power supply units (PSU). It certifies products that have more than 80% energy efficiency at 20%, 50% and 100% of rated load, and a power factor of 0.9 or greater at 100% load. That is, PSUs will waste 20% or less electric energy as heat at the specified load levels, thus reducing electricity use and bills compared to less efficient PSU
That means less energy is wasted and more is used to power your system.

The Yama 750 watt 80 PLUS Certified PSU was setup in a test rig and tested using single and Dual Graphics Cards alongside HDD's, Optical Drives and Multiple USB Peripherals.
With a Listed Power rating of 16A and 18A available on the two 12V Rails, we found that even the most power hungry cards and components were satisfied with delivery. No voltage drops or fluctuations outside of normal levels were detectable and all components performed at their peak during benchmarks while powered by the PSU.

With the ability to hot swap rails and lines thanks to the Modular setup of the PSU no issues were encountered with adding or removing devices and all USB devices, both active and passive were tested with no issues.

It seems that Yama are making inroads into the gaming sector of the component market with a lineup of well priced, high spec components that deliver solid, reliable performance, this PSU embodies all of those trademarks and delivers a Power solution that can support extended amounts of components while delivering certified performance and energy efficiency.
