Hey so i jam on Afrihost (capped account) and its completely awesome during the day but at about 7 or 8 my ping to (cod4) servers jumps from about 20 to 40+... slight but it makes a difference

Oh yeah im in joburg...

Any one else experiencing this?

Thats because most people are home and playing online and downloading round that time.

Most likely just higher usage in general and on your exchange. Mom and girls going on Facebook, boys gaming like you and dad's surfing porn, I mean playing the stck exchange...

What does it do on weekends?

I have an Afrihost 1Mbps uncapped account, and I haven't seen any latency jumps like that. So maybe it is you exchange taking more traffic, like DenSweeP said.

You have a Capped Afrihost account, and all of them are unshaped, so it won't be a shaping issue from their side. Has this happened more than once and on different servers as well?

I have a 4MB uncapped account from Afrihost on a 6MB line from Telkom, and last week we had 5 PC's connected on WOW with latency of 180 - 215 at anytime. so good account do find at times getting shaped when downloading movies during day time. but ill say go for it @ R397.00 PM
