Do you remember Battlefield 1942?

Who remembers the good old battlefield 1942? With the huge battles and ridiculous Naval battles. The funniest moment for me was when my friend and I were trying to both fly the plane ( I was bomber, he was controls), sometimes we would end up bombing ourselves, as he was trying to do barrel rolls and i was trying to bomb people. I've never laughed so hard. When they announced the expansion pack secret weapons of world war II, i remember pouring tons of hours into playing the demo. Just playing the one map Hellendorn over and over, i always thought you could launch the big V2 rockets in the German base by winning in a certain way . Oh and that silly mini jet was just so much fun! Always rushing to it so that i could steal the enemies Flakpanzer (AA tank), so that i could use it to kill the enemies from behind.



Battlefield 1942 got me into the whole FPS business and the battlefield series. Definitively worth a shot in playing it if you havent, though it might be a bit outdated now!

we only played it with the Desert Combat mod

Battlefield 2 with Nations at war mod was the best for me. Ahh those shotgun with pin point accuracy was the best

Mmm i never really tried any mods for 1942. I'll give it a shot later when i can find the damn disk

No jokes; this is still probably the game I have the best multiplayer memories of. Once we were just 3 guys playing on Guadalcanal, and 2 of us decided to take a jeep and do runs from one end of the island to the other while the 3rd guy would try to strafe us in a Zero. Hours of fun ensued with the predictable dodging and ramping over hills to avoid the bullets. On one run, we decided to try a new tack; keep on driving straight, so that the initial corrections he made to his flight path would take him on a route that he couldn't get a shot in at us. It worked brilliantly; so brilliantly, in fact, that the only time he had us in his sights was when he was basically on top of us, so he just flew over our heads and banked to try again.
What we HADN'T bargained on was the fact that the Zero's landing gear (which automatically extends at low altitudes) was exactly the same width apart as the seats in the Jeep. So when our friend buzzed us, his landing gear hit us both in the head simultaneously, killing us instantly.
