    Default Help with a budget gaming pc (R8000)

    hi
    i'm about to buy a desktop from PcZone and add on a graphics card, windows 7 and psu
    For playing games such as Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 what do you think of this setup?

    i5 2500 deal (R3999) (www.zones.co.za 07 June 2012 - 13 June 2012)
    I spoke to a guy at the store and he told me that it comes with a 350W psu with a basic motherboard and I've seen the chassis, its not very big with only 2 fans possibly fitting in there.

    This is the chassis:
    http://www.computerstore.co.za/TT-V2...ap-p-58008.php

    I want to add on:
    Gainward GTX 550 ti GS (R1599)
    Windows 7 Home Premium (R1099) I wanted to get Home Basic (R799) but he told me Premium would be better for gaming, anyone know why?
    600W Power Supply (R599) (Sorry I've forgotten the brand)

    Total : R7297 (My budget is R8000)
    He recommended i spend R800 on a bigger chassis (excl. psu) with 3 huge fans (forgot the sizes) to make sure my system doesn't over heat.
    This one:

    Should i spend the extra money on it?

    Thanks!

    That is a terrible price for the rig.

    Built a guy a similar rig:

    * i5 2500
    * decent mobo (intel, discreet mobo. Can't remember which model)
    * Gigabyte 560ti
    * 8 gigs of corsaire dominator
    * 650watt corsiar psu
    * zalman z9 case http://www.zalman.com/eng/product/Pr...ad.asp?idx=476 (he wanted lights...)

    For under R7k can't remember exactly. So have a bit of a look around.

    Send me a pm. If not me, the joker is also very decent with his prices and service.

    wow R599 for a 600w psu? Its either really on special otherwise its a shitty 600w. So be careful, big numbers don't mean everything.
    But yeah I don't recommend that build at all. Joker will have a much better deal for you then that one.

    8k you say...
    Core i5 3450 - R1964
    GIGABYTE H61M-DS2 - R516
    2 x 4GB DDR3 - R420
    KFA2 GTX560 - R1767
    Thermaltake LitePower 600w - R461
    500GB - R718

    Total: ~R5828 saved you about 2k - Prices all at: http://www.rebeltech.co.za/

    A very nice chassis is the Coolermaster Elite 310 w/ Window. It has a Front and rear fan (installed already) and space for a side fan 120mm/80mm/92mm sizes.

    @Crzwaco Thanks for that comparison! Its helpful. Sorry I didn't realise the date. I have a feeling their desktop prices will remain the same in their next special because its been like that for a while now.

    @simon Just found the note that he wroe the specs on. Its a Thermalake 600W (I don't know which psu's are good)

    @Glordit and @ryanbighead Thanks! those are great builds

    since its my dads bank card I've been restricted to buying locally (Durban and Stanger area)
    Anyone know good priced stores in Durban apart from PcZone?

    i can see buying parts online and building it myself can save me a lot of money and i want to! But since its my dads bank card I've been restricted to buying locally (Durban and Stanger area) because he doesn't trust buying online

    You don't need a credit card to purchase online, place an order, and pay via Bank deposit or EFT. You don't get the goods go to the bank and have it reversed.

    Not too familiar with Durban, but take the names and prices of the products we listed and go to a store and ask if they can do better? Worth a shot I guess.

    Rebeltech is all new to me. I just wanted to find out, how reliable are they? as anyone experienced any problems with their delivery and products?

    Hi mehraan,

    I'm also a banana-boy (live in Amanzimtoti). Rebeltech is awesome. I purchased my pc through them. If you buy from them, speak to Rune, he is the head honcho there. I bought all my parts from them and they built up my whole rig from scratch at their offices, not charging me a cent for building the pc and shipping it down to me. I will always buy from them.

    With regards to PC zone, well, customer service is not their #1 priority. Wanted to spend 12k at their shop building my pc up, nobody was interested. Walked out with the 12k in my pocket. Not spending a cent there ever again....
