I used to ONLY buy AMD! and loved it!! My PC owned all my friends with their puny Intel boxes!

That was until lightning hit my PC and Insurance bought me an Intel PC....
One day... I will make my return back to AMD and not feel ashamed that I am an Intel boy atm!

My experience is limited to the AMD GPU I won from MyGaming last year, the HD6870. Despite being a mid-range card, it is amazing. Holds up pretty well when running most new games on higher detail settings.

I've been in both AMD and Nvidia camps and, from experience with their products over the years, I have to say Nvidia is more consistent across all types of games (Open-world vs corridor shooters). I found that that AMD always looked like a great bang-for-buck option but, when you actually use the hardware, the performance is underwhelming.

I've never really been a huge fan of AMD CPUs after they got knocked off the top ranks by Intel in the multicore wars. I still remember my one friend had one of those shiny AMD dual cores fresh off the shelf that gave my Pentium 4 3GHz HT enabled CPU a run for it's money. Although over the years I've been an avid fan of their graphics cards. They may not be powerful grunts like Nvidia cards, but they have been able to hold out for at least 3 to 4 years allowing me to hold out on GFX upgrades for a while. My first ATI card was the HD3450. A joke of a card, but at R500 it allowed me to play a lot of games on high that my poor integrated Intel chipset couldn't handle. I ran the card for just over 3 years and finally retired it after I decided I might as well treat myself to a new GFX card. At that stage the HD6850 was the best bang for buck I found that fitted into my budget and I've been happily running it for a year and a half now and I'm sure I can at least get another year and a half out of this card before it's age actually begins to show. I was somewhat underwhelmed by the performance of their 7000 series, but it is after all the tock in their tick-tock release model. I'll be looking forward to see what they do with the 8000 series when I start looking at upgrading my GFX card closer to the end of next year.

My first experience with AMD was a great one. A friend of mine had his brother from London ship us both 9700 pro's. Remember those? Was like 10 years ago or something (they were still ATI back then) They ran everything so boss and I still think it is in an old pc somewhere, never broke.

Atm im running a 6850 and i gotta tell you, it is so awesome. Always believed AMD is the best value for money
