If prices are dropping why should I get one now... I'll just wait for it to drop more...

Not quite. Prices will always be dropping sure, but at the moment its dropping fairly fast & more importantly, the capacities are increasing faster than the need for space.

e.g. In my case I know I need 512gb ideally. That would mean I can put everything except media onto the SSD. My requirements might change perhaps +15% in the next year (e.g. new steam game), but the capacities SSD available for any given price will definitely increase >15%. Given current trends probably more like 100%. So I'll probably wait until 512gb hits the current 256gb price.

So while I do agree with the always waiting sentiment, I think SSDs are a special case in that it can, for some people, make sense to wait a bit.

It wasn't really an argument for getting one NOW; just saying you should get one :P

Best monies I ever spent! You run ONLY windows and apps you use very often, like office and keep the rest of your shyte on a internal drive. Works like a dream!

What about the whole maximum write cycles? What sort of MTBF would you be looking at?

Loving my 240gb sandisk extreme, enough space for windows and all the games etc. Why wait? If you need more space you could always get another.

This is something I would also want more info on, this is one of the reason I have been reluctant to upgrade. I heard the life span on an SSD is quite short, not that I need it longer than 2 years cause I dont keep the same drive long. I have tons of info that flies through my operating system drive and if i could get a definitive answer I will get an SSD tomorrow if it works for me.

Other issue is I have no Bays for a 2.5" drive to fit, how the hell does that work (yep I know dumb question but I like knowing everything before committing to something these days, made that mistake before costed me more money in the end than I planned).

    Thanks if anyone responds.
