I'm sorry..... but no..... just no.

If this actually happens I'll weep for humanity. StarCraft and LoL are NOT Olympic sports. They're eSports with their own world championships. I have the same problem with chess, apparently it'll be an Olympic sport in 2016.

I know what some of you are thinking – if synchronised swimming gets to be an official Olympic sport, why not StarCraft and League of Legends
I was actually thinking about that the other day. Not specifically synchronised swimming but just all activities where there just aren't any measurable outputs and the winners have to be determined at the sole discretion of judges.

It's tough to say what should or shouldn't be in but when I watch diving or gymnastics I have no idea of who is good or bad, winning or losing. I have no grasp of the sport, and unless you are an expert I would gather most people don't actually know what they are looking at beyond "that looks hard" or "that 'looked' good". Compare that to watching archery when I can very clearly see who shot closer to the mark or soccer when someone scores a goal.

With that in mind I feel eSports definitely do have a claim since everything is based on rules which offer no ambiguity.
