Need for Speed: Shift

As stated in my thread about this, which will now become redundant :P (lol) I have only 2 problems with the game.
Firstly. You earn To much money way to quickly throughout the career. I play the game on hardest Difficulty, All assists off on my G25. Winning races gives you to much cash, you don't need to keep cars long enough and upgrade them bit by bit, you just go out and buy new cars every third race. I would have enjoyed a longer experience with your car, allmost like Gran Turismo (bleh I referenced a console game bleh bleh :P ) making upgrade choices and tuning essential for victories.
Secondly the Sound. The sound is horrible. Every single car in the game sounds like it has a straight cut GT class Gearbox. WHile this might be true for some cars that are featured in the game, as they do have it in real life, the gearbox whine is just stupid to be placed on all cars. Also Spooling and Dumpvalve (blow off valve) Sounds of the turbo's is fairly stupid. Again this was taken from GT class cars where their Turbo components are recirculated to produce only soft sounding dumps and about no spooling noises, but this should not be true for every single car in the game. Super Sigh there. They should really have used the sounds from NFS ProStreet. The turbos, Engine and Dumpvalve sounds in that game were awesome.
Other than that it's a really enjoyable game, And it's even better to LAN and play online.

I heard u can download the latest patch and that unlocks the Lan feature for the game... is that true???

Ok, fair enough on the money issue. They could have made it a slower progression, but to be honest, I did not think it felt too easy and loved being able to access awesome cars without pouring hours of my life into the game.
Secondly, the sound. While I admittedly know very little about cars, I still thought the sound was great and enjoyed the differences from car to car. Whether or not they are accurate, I cannot say with absolute certainty. However, I do know that they modeled engine sounds on the real world counterparts.
Maybe SHIFT is not for everyone. I think car-nuts like Mapy might be best served to wait for Forza 3 or GT5.

They did, and my beautifull Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R sure does sound like a skyline from real life, only with added gearbox whine and reduced turbo noises.
See I am very fussy when it comes to things like this, as I drive a heavily modified Turbo charged car in real life. Turbo boytjies want to hear Turbo's. Hence my love for Prostreet.
Look as I stated all in all it's still a very very enjoyable game, and the sound and money progression issues, are more like little annoyances than they are game "breaking" features to me.
@Sycogrim. Yet again shows you can't read for shite. Go back to primary school and ask for your money back, clearly they didn't do a good job on you
I quote myself here, the last bit of my original post.I heard u can download the latest patch and that unlocks the Lan feature for the game... is that true???

When we were at the NFS: Shift event we were told that every car in the game was pre-recorded. This means that the sounds you hear while racing are actually the cars running through their gearing progressions.
If you prefer manufactured car audio to that then I have to say that I respectfully disagree![]()

Yeh but mappy the feature isnt available in the original game its in the "patch" which you have to get... I have to get the Lan feature... and I must say when i get the game this weekend my step dad and I will be modifying the performance of the BMW 135i and E36 for the driftsjust tune it up a little

Yeah I know but but. I have had the pleasure of driving in lots of these cars in the game (being a car nut, being on car forums, going to track racing etc often)
It's not the Engine sounds themselves that are a bother, as they really are spot on, its the gearbox whine applied to all cars, that MANY of the real life counterparts do not have, and the lack of the turbo spooling and dumpvalve sounds. THat's the part I have a problem with. The Main engine audio is perfect, as like you and Tinny stated, has been recorded from their real life counterparts.
Read the part where you mention the loading times...
I'm not sure if it happens with other people but on PC(or atleast mine) the loading times are also quite long...
PS. whats with the double threads?

Example.
Stock R34 in shift. Engine sounds perfect, but listen to that gearbox

R34, real life. Listen to the turbo spool and Dump, no gearbox whine.
