    Default Forza 3 (MG review)

Forza 3 is a big step forward, but it's not perfect

I don't agree with the sound quality being worse than NFS Shift. Like I said in my thread about NFS Shift vs. Forza 3 I find the sound in Shift to be LOUD as opposed to Forza's much more technically correct sounds, and quite frankly, if you play it through a decent sound system, Forza 3 sounds amazing.

I also don't agree with the bashing of the menu navigation system. I find it extremely stylish and a 100% improvement over Forza 2. I think it gives the game a more "upmarket" feeling, like you're strolling through a flagship Audi Dealership looking for an R8...that kinda feeling If you think the menu navigation is confusing in Forza 3, try and QUIT a race in Shift...I still cannot find the option to quit a race???

Another thing that I didn't spot in the review was that when it came to car response and physics, NFS Shift was conveniently forgotten. Fact is, Shift is MUCH more of an arcade racer compared to Forza 3's simulation. If you're going to compare a game to another one, do it in ALL cases, not just specific ones.

Overall I think it's a good review but it was not a smart choice to compare the game to Need for Speed: Shift. If I had reviewed the game I would have rather compared it to Forza 2 or simply not compared it to anything because you're bound to run into problems when comparing apples with oranges.

Edit: Heck...even a comparison to GT: Prologue would have been a smarter choice, and if you're honest with yourself, did you really think a game with as much content as Forza 3 would load fast in the first place? Even GT: Prologue has some EPIC load times and it doesn't even feather 10% of the cars that Forza 3 does.

Fair and informative comment there Neo, thanks for adding your thoughts. Perhaps the reviewer should not have compared them, although in fairness, they are both racing games, and I'm sure when it comes down to buying a new racing title, many gamers will end up deciding between Shift and Forza 3.

Hehehe. No problems. I'm not trying to troll, just giving an added opinion so that whoever reads this has more info to make an informed decision

Nice one Neo, appreciate the input.

From a potential buy point ... I'm still deciding between NFS:Shirt & Dirt2. I have Forza2 and haven't even begun to play anything other than time-trials on it. It's too unforgiving.

My racing upgrade choices from what I'm currently playing are:

Arcade street: Burnout Paradise/Test drive to NFS Shift
Simulator street: GRiD / Forza 2 to Forza 3
Offroad: Sega Rally to Dirt 2 (No comparison!)

Dude you're going to crack your head with NFS Shift. It's a good game, big up to Slightly Mad Studios for bringing back NFS, but geesh, the game starts out okay and then proceeds to eat you for dinner. I've upgraded my S3 to the TEETH and it's ended up being SLOWER? No thanks, if I had to choose ONE game, I'd stick with Forza or possibly Dirt2 (would love to try it soon!).
