Are there no gamers in Cape Town?

Hi!

I've been in Cape Town for about 1.5 months now and yet I haven't been able to find a single decent internet cafe to play CS1.6, WC3 or any other game for that matter. Where do you go to fulfill your gaming needs? I've been onto google for at least a couple of hours but i haven't found anything solid to go on.

I currently live in OBS and here its absolutely dead, there is a place called obz.com that advertised "LAN-GAMING" but it's closed.

My gut feeling is that there is some small gamer scene that I just haven't been able to uncover so I came here for some help and/or advice.

Also if possible I would like to find a place where I can play Street Fighter 4. Do you know of any small tournaments being organised somewhere or any good arcades?

I'm staying untill June so I'd really like to find a place where i could get a few hours of gaming in between work.

Well, there's this small little cafe and laundromat here by me in newlands on the main road. They offer internet at 5 an hour, and although I haven't been there in awhile, I did ask the guy about LAN gaming, etc and he did say they might get some games in etc for us to play. It's on the same street as the entrance to the baxter is.

Well Cape Town hosts the biggest monthly lan in S.A. www.oc.co.za. But as far as what you are looking for is concerned I'm afraid you won't find much luck. The days of internet cafe gaming are almost over, since most people refer to play games on thier own machines in relative comfort, hence the death of the arcade. However if you have your own gaming PC I would advise you to go to the Organised Chaos lan in Bellville, you'd get ample gaming there.

Like Isengard said. Most people prefer to game on their own machines using their own internet accounts, which they use to play on the local servers either in CT or around SA. But I doubt there is really a spot for gamers as such. Mainly LANs such as OC

most of my clan is from capetown and yes, much like they've all said here.... their own PC's with ADSL lines.

Thanks for the responses even though they were sort of not what I was hoping for :P

That OC LAN looks great, although I need to buy a PC before which is not really in my budget. Do any of you know if they have loaners there?

Oh, and if someone here is really into SF4 or belong to a group of SF4 players I'd like to play with you some time.
