Hooking your PS3 up to any LCD monitor - A dummy guide

Got myself a SAMSUNG B2430H yesterday, looks great! Especially in-game
I was considering using HDMI from my card to the monitor, but i read that this is pointless as DVI is pretty much the same as as HDMI minus the sound.

The yesterday i discovred something thats gonna save me alot of money
well in theory i think

My screen has an audio jack input at the back of it, this means teachincally i can do the follwing:

1. Keep my current DVI connection to my PC and "switch" between Digital(PC) and HDMI(PS3)
2. use speakers/headphones plugged into the back of the Jack input for sound output from the ps3 as the data will be transmitted in HDMI for the ps3
3. Thus eliminating the need for any USB headsets n stuff like that for sound output on the ps3

My PS3 audio goes to my PC audio input jack.
Works perfectly.

Can you use a 19ich wide screen with the res of 1440 x 900?

hmmm.... i have a zalman trimon 3d monitor - any games out there support 3d on the ps3? i'd love to see some of that action in 3d

Nice guide, but i am having a problem setting up mine. I have a LED with HDMI input, and am using a HDMI splitter from my ps3; with one end going to the TV and the other to the monitor (just in case someone else is watching\i want to play while i watch DSTV or some sport)

Problem is that there is NO sound on the monitor. The menu sounds are heard when moving through the menu's but no sound is heard in game or when playing a movie etc. (Sound is heard on the TV)

Is this a known issue when using an HDMI splitter?

The following games support 3D on PS3:
Killzone 3
Crysis 2
Resistance 3
Uncharted 3
Wipeout HD (Via Patch)
Motorstorm Apocalypse
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus (Via Patch)

Out of all of the above, Killzone and Crysis 2 are the best! I have a LG Cinema 3D TV and they are uber hot!!!
