they're probably doing this because we're going to be flooded with so much DLC in the next year or two, that everyone will need extra storage.

I've almost maxed out my 20GB HD so this will be a major win. And portable profiles. Yay! I'm tired of playing with my shitty Tiger Woods '10 character on my housemate's XB. :P

I know I will be doing so later this evening.

Yeah, I downloaded the update this morning. I've already formatted a flash drive, and moved my profile and saved games onto it. Now my two 64MB memory units are totally fucking worthless, of course. I'm not sure what the speeds of installed games will be like, though, since I use a proper 120GB Xbox HDD for those.

I don't know how big the update was, but it didn't take long.

I've also updated this afternoon, took approx 45 minutes on my 384 line which is about 100mb download. I stuck an old USB drive in there, took less than a minute to optimize, works fine so far, will have a better look later tonite.

It takes up about 500mb of drive space to optimize, over and above the usual 10% that you lose on a storage device.

ok i updated mine last night ... didnt notice how long it took because i was playing bfbc2 on pc ... anyways after the update i plugged in my 40gb sata laptop drive and optimised it for xbox360 ... it said something about degrading performance but who cares seeing that it would beat have my desk vibrating from the disc spinning all the time in the xbox ... install forza 3 with disc 2 ... around 9gb used for that and it loaded faster than the disc and was waay quieter ... im totally happy with the updated! great stuff!

Is it possible to still use the flashdisk on the pc? To copy movies and music on for example.
