Games you can play this week 2

We’re now heading into the middle of June, and the post-E3 shadow over game releases has settled down. This week we see the introduction of a slight feminine touch into the hack-and-slash world, as well as a game which may just be the make or break for hardcore Kinect fans.

Lollipop Chainsaw

Suda 51 is known for making pretty bizarre, yet awesome games. No More Heroes was a standout feature on the Wii (and the later port to PS3), although the quirky designer is now trying is hand at a new IP.

Lollipop Chainsaw sees players take control of zombie hunter and cheerleader Juliet Starling, as she heads back to her high-school for an undead massacre.

The game plays out like a familiar hack-and-slash, although there are a lot more over-the-top tricks and twists in Lollipop Chainsaw. Grasshopper Manufacture’s action title will also feature an extensive soundtrack which covers a range of genres from the 80′s punk to dubstep (of course).

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor

Steel Battalion Heavy Armor is an upcoming action game where players take control of a VT commander, making some clever use of Microsoft’s Kinect.

The game can be played with a combination of the Kinect system and a normal controller, allowing players to have an idea of what it feels like to control a futuristic war machine.

Set in 2082, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor depicts a world devoid of computers, where war is waged with rudimentary weapons as new superpowers struggle for dominance. In this low-tech era there is one weapon class that will determine the course of the war – the Vertical Tank. Players take on the role of VT pilot Sgt. Powers as the battle to regain the United States from Chinese occupation begins.
