As June creeps towards a relatively busy end, some of the recently quieter systems (most notably that of PC and DS) are getting the love they deserve. Morphing mayhem makes its way to PC in the form of Prototype 2, while the Nintendo DS gets some spin-off love with a new Pokemon RPG.

Prototype 2 (PC)

Prototype 2 finally makes its way to PC, and even though it’s been out for a short while on consoles, keyboard-and-mouse gamers will be eager to get their hands on Prototype 2’s shape-shifting chaos. As Dan Parmenter wrote in his MyGaming review:

“So I’m scoring Prototype 2 with that mindless approach in mind and ‘tilting’ the final score as such: as modern gamers we spend so much time obsessing over bleeding-edge visuals and storylines based on New York Times bestsellers, when often all we need is something that simply hearkens back to the basics, games like good ol’ Rampage that unashamedly let us have fun simply destroying stuff.”

Pokemon Conquest (DS)

Japanese role-playing crossover Pokémon Conquest is making its début this week.

The game takes place in a new region, Ransei, inspired by Japan’s era of feudal warlords.

The Tecmo Koei developed RPG blends a mish-mash of Pokémon stars with characters from obscure Japanese war strategy series Nobunaga’s Ambition.

Players must use their Pokémon to conquer the game’s 17 kingdoms. Over 200 Pokémon breeds are included in the game, including monsters from the latest Black and White generation.

Conquest arrives before Pokémon Black and White 2, the next “proper” set of games in the series, which are due to arrive in Europe later this year.
