Nintendo’s upcoming 3DS XL handheld, the bigger brother of the current 3DS system, is launching this weekend (28 July 2012), but what kind of damage can we expect our pockets to take?
Local Nintendo distributors, Core, said that the 3DS XL has an RRP (recommended retail price) of R2,349 (in blue, red or silver), with a 4GB SD card in the box. However, an AC adapter will not be included as Nintendo expects a majority of its new owners to be upgrading from an existing Nintendo handheld.
But with retailers having their own ideas on prices, we tracked down the best deals on the bigger, rounder and prettier 3DS XL.
So, if you’re looking to pick up a 3DS XL this weekend, where should you go?
So it’s quite clear that Kalahari is offering the best deal, although BT Games and Takealot slide in just under them with relatively good prices of their own.
All outlets are beating the RRP, which is a good sign for local gamers.
South African gamers also have the chance to get their hands on Nintendo’s new handheld at 3DS XL community events in Joburg, Cape Town, and Durban, to see if they’re sold on the beefed-up device.
So, are you going to be picking up a 3DS XL this weekend? And if so, where?
