We’re hitting the mid-point of September already, and our local retailers are pushing out some specials for those gamers still on the edge about embracing a console (or looking for another one – curse you red ring of death!).

Walmart/Makro, Hi-Fi Corp, and Incredible Connection are all offering worthy specials that could catch your eye this weekend.

Xbox 360 250GB console and Gears of War trilogy (Walmart) (R2,999)

Walmart is offering a 250GB Xbox 360 console, along with two wireless controllers, and 3 games, for R2,999.

The games include Gears of War, Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3 – worthy entries into the Microsoft game library.

The special is valid from 22 July – 23 September 2012.

Playstation 3 320GB hard drive and games bundle (Hi-Fi Corp) (R3,599.99)

A 320GB Playstation 3 bundle is on offer from Hi-Fi Corp for R3,599.99.

The deal includes the console, a dual-shock 3 controller, the deity-killing God of War III, and Sony’s long-running racing series most recent entry, Gran Turismo 5.

The special is valid from 13 – 16 September.
