With the announcement of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 coming to current and next-gen consoles, MyGaming decided to look at all the upcoming superhero games heading our way.
InFamous: Second Son
InFamous 2 was an incredibly solid game, and a follow-up in the franchise is definitely needed. We’re anticipating the release of the PS4 and InFamous: Second Son, because it looks like another superhero origin story that we’re keen to explore.
The game follows Delsin Rowe, a young man who’s been gifted (or cursed?) with the power of manipulating fire and smoke. Delsin can turn himself into smoke to move through the environments and give him an advantage in combat.
Delsin won’t have it easy though, as many other people in the city are developing powers and his abilities will be pushed to the limit in order to survive.
On top of the intriguing premise, the game looks absolutely gorgeous and we can’t wait to get our hands on Second Son.
Batman: Arkham Origins
Batman: Arkham Origins is the next game in the Arkham franchise, but instead of being developed but RockSteady Studios, who handled Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, the game development fell into the hands of Warner Bros. Games Montreal.
WB Montreal has been given full access to Rocksteady’s custom modified Unreal engine, which will keep Arkham Origins within the same vein of the previous games.
Regarding the setting, the game will take place before the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City where an “unrefined Batman” takes on some super-villains for the very first time.
Origins will see “eight of the world’s best assassins coming together on one night, Christmas Eve, to kill the Bat”.
The Amazing Spider-man 2
Marvel has announced that The Amazing Spider-man 2 will release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Wii U, and 3DS next year, which will tie into the big screen sequel to 2012’s smash hit.
Developer Beenox has said that the game will feature greater player freedom, new abilities, upgrades, and challenges, along with a Hero or Menace morality system.
There aren’t many other details about the game, but it will undoubtedly return to its open-world action exploration formula of swinging around New York and beating up baddies.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
While a little more blocky than the form more well-known with the superheroes, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will bring all the hilarious charm of LEGO, excitement of a 3D action platformer, and awesomeness that comes with the Marvel universe.
Anyone who’s played a Lego game can tell you that they’re pretty damn amazing, and having the Marvel characters in all their blocky glory is a match made in heaven.
Like previous Lego games, it will be an action platformer with over 100 Marvel Universe characters to control, such as Spider-man, Hulk, Iron Man, and Wolverine, to name a few.
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Injustice: God’s Among Us already released for current-gen, but with a PS Vita and PS4 version on the way, the game will undoubtedly benefit from those respective platforms’ special features.
Developed by Netherealm Studios, the game was well-acclaimed and features many of DC Comics’ greatest heroes in a no-holds barred fighting experience. Think Mortal Kombat meets DC, except, not that one.
Injustice: Gods Among Us boasts a strong character roster, with familiar faces such as Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn, Flash, Wonder Woman, and Solomon Grundy to name a few.
The game integrates the environment into the fights, allowing players to smash one another through walls and objects, while also using each character’s unique abilities .
