Tony Hawk’s big announcement has been spoiled ahead of the 2011 Spike VGAs, thanks to some aggressive red carpet interviewing by Joystiq. According to the man himself, the big announcement is “Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD”, which will select some of the most popular levels from the original first two games, pretty them up and package them for a digital release.

While Tony doesn’t want to give away too much just yet, he did say that fan favourite levels “School” and “Downhill” will make it into the game, and the game will be released for “digital platforms”, so most likely the usual big three then of Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

According to Hawk, the game will arrive sometime during summer (North American summer), and will be costed “under $20″.  While this may seem like an attempt to milk some more cash out of a dying franchise, I think we can all agree the first two Hawk games were the best, so this could be something to get excited about.
