Navigate and shoot at stuff against the backdrop of static Google Street view images

In a piece of news bound to excite bored housewives the world over, a Dutch ad firm has transformed Google Street View into a first person shooter.

VentureBeat was the first to notice the project, which is being called Google Shoot View. Conceptualised by Pool Worldwide, the game lets players roam real-world streets as depicted in Google Street view and shoot stuff.

In its current state players can shoot at people depicted in the Street View photos, but don’t expect them to die or anything. In fact, don’t expect anything or anyone in the “game” to move at all, because it is, after all, set against the backdrop of real-life still images.

We’re not exactly sure what the points of the project is, but we will be keeping our eyes on this one. Expect a hellish media frenzy to erupt as soon as Fox News gets wind of it…
