We’ve all been excited about a Bioshock movie ever since its announcement several hundred years ago, but after production has been plagued by delays and problems, you’d be forgiven for giving up hope, especially since the film recently lost director Gore Verbinski. But Irrational hasn’t.

According to Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine, the film is not dead yet. Levine said they’re just too focused on Bioshock Infinite’s development and release right now.

“The thing with Gore [Verbinski] didn’t work out, but there’s no such thing as ‘it’s finished’ when it comes to making a movie out of something,” said Levine when asked about the status of the project.

“It’s always about the stars aligning. We’re still focusing on it, but it hasn’t consumed us so much. Right now, we’re choosing our battles and focusing on making BioShock Infinite.”

In the meantime we’ll have to console ourselves with the third Bioshock game, due out October 16 this year for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
