This year’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 is said to be “returning to its roots”, and a bunch of new screenshots confirm that it’s definitely still a football game.

The screenshots show some of the world’s greatest players, such as cover-star Christiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar and, of course, Lionel Messi.

PES 2012 was a strong step-up for Konami’s football series, and PES 2013 is placing an emphasis on individual skill of the worlds most talented footballers, with greater control over the ball, as players will feature the trademark abilities of their real-life counterparts.

The new features include PES FullControl (PES FC) which allows for greater freedom of movement, dynamic first touches and full manual shooting and passing, giving players the precision to control the height and strength of every shot or assist to a teammate.

A strong focus has also been placed on player individuality and AI, resulting in a much smoother and authentic game of football.
