Tomb Raider dev working on new, next-gen IP

Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind the gritty Tomb Raider reboot that impressed at E3, is looking to start work on a next-generation third-person action game.

The news comes in the form of a job ad, which is seeking a senior engineer who will work on “a cutting edge, original IP for future platforms”. Not much reading between the lines required there.

Specifically, the ad says the employee will work “to develop and iterate on next-gen animation systems and tools pipelines for engine systems on third-person action adventure AAA titles.”

Since being exposed the ad has had a quick edit, cutting out the spicy stuff like “future platforms” and “next-generation” – not that it does much good now that the cat’s out of the bag.

There’s a slight possibility the “next-gen” part was an error, but that seems highly unlikely. Given what we’ve seen of Tomb Raider so far, this new IP could be something to get excited about.
