Borderlands 2 has more guns than every FPS on 360, PS3 put together

We already know Borderlands 2 features approximately 95.6 percent more wub wub than the original, but how many more guns does it have? An important question that needs an answer, but not even Gearbox chief skag-wrangler Randy Pitchford has an exact number.

“Conceivably we could use the procedural system to tell us,” he told Eurogamer. “We made the claim ‘lots of guns’. I worked out there’s actually more guns in Borderlands than in every other first-person shooter ever launched on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 all added together. And Borderlands 2 breaks that, and probably if you even included Borderlands 1. Probably! I haven’t done the math.”

He also added that, this time around, players would see more completely different types of weapons, rather than subtle variations on several models.

“There are enough where it doesn’t matter,” he explained. “It really doesn’t matter. If you imagine there’s a lot more, but you also see the variety is wilder than Borderlands 1.”

Gearbox also recently revealed that Borderlands 1 players will unlock special costumes in Borderlands 2 with their save file.

Borderlands 2 is set for a 21 September 2012 release for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
