Where to from shotgun gibs and berserkers and improbably proportioned men with no necks? That’s the prospect that faced Gears of War designer Lee Perry before he decided that, hey, he’d open up his own game dev business and release a “quirky adventure RPG hybrid” for iOS.

BitMonster Games has apparently signed a multi-licence deal with Epic Games to develop Unreal Engine 3 titles, the first of which is Lili. The game takes place on an island inhabited by “crazy folk”, and lists an “amusing non-combat system” as a feature used by the protagonist to “challenge an oppressive regime or two along her way.” So, basically, it’s an end of the month grocery shopping simulator.

“Epic has been extremely supportive of our new studio and in helping us build the game of our dreams,” said Perry. “We set out to create an adventure that is appropriate for nearly anyone. As a designer, it’s exciting to see that the Unreal Engine 3 tools are better than ever, and they provide everything we need to achieve a gratifying and imaginative experience.”

The game’s reportedly in the “final stages” of production and due out sometime pretty soon, but in the meantime, you can just watch this trailer on repeat.
