The world anxiously awaits the biggest gaming conference in the world, Gamescom, to be held in Germany. Unfortunately for fans, two big titles have been confirmed to be no-shows at the event – Rockstar’s next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series, and Ubisoft’s impressive open-world action title, Watch Dogs.

The organisers at Gamescom have confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V will in fact not be making an appearance. Speculation abounded when a promotional trailer for the exhibition showed a small segment of the game, but Gamescom have now said the clip was erroneously included.

Communications manager and resident dreamcrusher Franko Fischer said, “Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”

Meanwhile, over in France, Ubisoft have chimed in saying they won’t be showing off the title that so impressed at E3, Watch Dogs. Instead the publisher is choosing to show off Assassin’s Creed 3, Far Cry 3 and a few others.
