The zombie apocalypse just got a whole lot more apocalyptic, with today’s launch of the long-awaited Left 4 Dead Cold Stream DLC campaign add-on. Before anybody thinks Valve actually shipped something on time, though, the Xbox version has been delayed for some reason or another. Maybe the Xbox dev team got eaten by zombies or something.

“We are working with MS on a release schedule,” the Left 4 Dead team tweeted last night. “We don’t have an ETA yet but we hope to have it out soon. It will be 560 [MSP].”

The DLC (free on Steam) adds an entirely new, four-chapter campaign to the game, as well as updated versions of the four original Left 4 Dead campaigns, Blood Harvest, Crash Course, Dead Air, and Death Toll.

Xbox players are, of course, totally enraged because after waiting more than a year for the DLC to launch, they now have to wait another week or so.

“We understand the frustration, we are right there with you,” Valve said. “Just wanted to wait until we had more info before posting.”

In the meantime, Left 4 Dead 2 has finally launched on Xbox LIVE’s Games on Demand, so those of you who couldn’t find it in the shops can finally get it. Then you can wait for the DLC.
