Anonymous has threatened to retaliate after the Ukraninan government pulled down Demonoid

Hacking group Anonymous has promised revenge on the Ukranian government after authorities pulled down the popular file-sharing site Demonoid last week.

“Last week, our generous green friend, the Demonoid, was met with a state sponsored Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack…These illegal actions were then followed up with a raid by Ukraine authorities,” the group post on AnonPR yesterday (9 August).

“In retaliation for your criminal acts against us and the free flow of information, we have already begun an operation against those responsible. Lazers are already being fired.”

Demonoid was hosted within the Ukraine, and was pulled down after Colocall, one of Ukraine’s internet service provider, seized the site’s data from servers.

According to the “#OpDemonoid” objectives for revenge, Anonymous promises to:

Restore Demonoid services by any means necessary and, if possible, facilitate a series of mirror sites operated by free Anons everywhere. In essence, open source Demonoid;
Retaliate against those responsible for the interruption. And Lulz.

The BitTorrent site was ranked in the top 600 Web sites in global traffic and the top 300 in U.S. traffic.
