Bioware co-founder Greg Zeschuk has reportedly taken the decision to leave the studio, stepping down as general manager of Bioware Austin.

The news comes via an EA statement given to German gaming site GamersGlobal, “When Greg Zeschuk announced the reorganization of BWA in May, he outlined his plan to return to his family in Edmonton for a much deserved vacation.

“Greg also announced the new GM of BioWare Austin and SWTOR, Matt Bromberg. Greg is still with EA. He’s now back in Canada, taking time off and thinking about new projects. No change with [co-founder] Ray Muzyka.”

When asked for further comment on the report, EA stated they were not yet saying anything further.

Bioware Austin is behind the struggling MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, which has seen a ton of lost jobs and the recent announcement that the previously subscription-based MMO would be going free-to-play.
