According to Polytron head Phil Fish (never one to mince words), social gaming powerhouse Zynga offered to port indie platformer Fez to mobile. Fish indicates that Polytron declined their offer however.

The news came via a tweet from Fish, which read, “Zynga approached us to port Fez to mobile. We politely refused. So, look forward to Zynga’s Fex any day now, I guess!”

One has to wonder what Zynga thought of Polytron’s jab regarding accusations against Zynga that they steal other people’s game concepts.

The typical “are you serious” tweets followed, to which Polytron confirmed that “it actually happened.” Much speculation ensued as to why Zynga would make such an offer, to which Polytron jokingly replied, “the first dimension is free…”

The news is interesting in that the eccentric platformer is vastly different from Zynga’s standard fare, which may indicate the company is looking to shake things up a bit with less casual titles. After the recent beatings they’ve taken in the stock market, they could be looking to move into different directions.
