Sony’s Gamescom 2012 presentation saw the company discussing how their new Cross-Play feature will come into action in LittleBigPlanet 2.

A new DLC for Media Molecule’s physics puzzler integrates the PS Vita to the experience of LPB2 on PS3.

The update will give the sequel new cross-control levels, where the PS Vita will act as a second screen to the main game.

The Vita will reveal hidden areas of levels, work as a scanner to uncover secrets, and allow users to move objects using the touchscreen. The gyroscope and rear-touch will also be used to shift objects and shake platforms loose.

Certain levels will send Sackboy into the Vita for an exclusive level, then back onto the main screen.

This could be Sony’s answer to the Nintendo’s Wii U GamePad, which incorporates a second screen into the gameplay.
