David Cage frustrated over lack of mature subject matter

Quantic Dream CEO David Cage has expressed frustration over the gaming industry’s reluctance to tackle more mature subjects in their games.

Speaking at Gamescom, Cage said, “I think we should have more courage in our industry and take more risks, because I think this is what the industry needs now,” Cage said. “I mean, how many first person shooters can you make? How many monsters/aliens/zombies can you kill in games? There’s a moment where we need to grow up. We need to grow up.”

Cage calls the problem the “Peter Pan syndrome”, saying the mentality needs to be discarded.

Cage is frequently vocal about this subject, saying last month that without more innovation the industry would die. He went on to say that “shooters will always be successful”, but the industry needs new ideas to thrive.
