MyGaming writer tragically killed in DayZ

MyGaming writer Tarryn van der Byl was killed late last night after surviving eight days in the Chernarus quarantine zone, international news outlets are reporting today.

According to witnesses, Tarryn was investigating a helicopter crash site with her partner (name withheld pending investigation), when she went on an ill-considered hatchet spree was overwhelmed by undead assailants. After losing consciousness, a nearby zombie persistently clawed at her prone, defenceless body until the spark of life had faded from her eyes.

Authorities are investigating a possible incident of so-called “friendly fire”, however, following a tip-off from anonymous sources.

“The wounds on Tarryn’s body are mostly consistent with a standard zombie attack pattern,” said one detective. “But there’s also trace evidence of what could be a bullet entry on her side. We also have some unanswered questions, like ‘why did Tarryn’s partner not open fire on the zombie right next to her that was quite obviously mauling her to death?’, ‘did he fire, and miss?’”

The partner is being held in custody for questioning, and is also facing charges of unlawful acquisition of property for allegedly removing three grilled steaks, a pair of night-vision goggles, and a blood bag from Tarryn’s backpack.

Tarryn has been a writer for MyGaming for about three years now, and will continue to work there because she’s not actually dead in real life.
