Protea e-Sport team boasts success at IeSF

Players advance into second day of play at the international championship event

The 2012 International e-Sport Federation event has kicked off in Cheon-an City, South Korea, and the the South African Protea team has gotten off to a good start with the two men on the team making it through to the second day of play.

In his first round of StarCraft II matches, Rob “PandaTank” Botha was drawn against the players from both Israel and Egypt, where he defeated both of his opponents.

Tekken Tag 2 Tournament competitor, Vittorio “HotShot” Puissa, was drawn against players from Israel and Austria, where he drew one and lost one match.

Both gamers go through to the next day of play, making it the first time ever that South Africa has had two players go through to the second day of play.

The ladies team, consisting of Gabriela “Gabybear” Isaacs (StarCraft II) and Lyrene “Legato” Kühn (Tekken Tag Tournament 2) begin their rounds today (4 October 2012).

The SA Protea team is attending the IeSF through Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), an affiliate of the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee.
