Apple has unveiled a new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, sporting a 2560×1600, 227-pixels-per-inch screen

Apple has unveiled a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a retina display at an event in San Jose today (23 October 2012). The new 13-inch Retina Macbook Pro complements Apple’s 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro which was unveiled in June 2012.

The 13-inch Retina Macbook Pro sports a screen resolution of 2560×1600, with a pixel density of 227-pixels-per-inch.

The new 13-inch Macbook Pro is also thinner and lighter than its predecessor. It weighs in at 3.57 pounds and is 0.75-inch thick (1.905cm).

The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, like its bigger 15-inch counterpart, features the usual USB support, a new MagSafe 2 connector, two Thunderbolt ports, an HDMI port and an SD card slot.

The new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro’s price starts at $1,699 and is immediately available in the US.
