Ubisoft has announced that the next instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise will arrive within the 2014 financial year.

“We are delighted and proud to announce today that in [fiscal year 2014], we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period,” said Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot.

“We expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise,” he added.

The Ubisoft financial year extends from March 2013 to March 2014, and given that Assassin’s Creed entries tend to release towards the holiday period, could we be seeing the game by the end of the year?

Assassin’s Creed 3 wrapped up the overarching Desmond storyline, and although the game went on to sell over 12 million copies, it was received with mixed reviews.

In Ubisoft’s third-quarter financial report, the company made €802 million in sales, up 23% from the previous year’s same period.
