Gearbox to “lose a huge amount of money” over Aliens: Colonial Marines

Gearbox CEO avoids the hate, but knows the cost

Gearbox president Randy Pitchford has finally responded to fans, following the controversy surrounding the lacklustre Aliens: Colonial Marines.

The game itself looked incredibly promising during preview events and demonstrations, yet the retail release was a far cry from what was shown. The game features shoddy textures, simplistic AI and lacked all the dynamic lighting, atmospheric effects and general polish that the demo showcased.

Evidence of this can be seen here: What happened to Aliens: Colonial Marines!?

Rumours that the game development wasn’t even done by Gearbox, and was instead outsourced to TimeGate, also caused concern.

Pitchford responded to the criticisms on Twitter, saying that he’s a “glass-half-full kind of guy” and only wants “positive feelings” on his personal Twitter account.

Pitchford then urged users to say whatever they want, but that they will be blocked if they’re not offering any value to the conversation.

One user directed an angry tweet at Pitchford, saying that all that matters to Gearbox is the money made from the game. Pitchford replied:

Pitchford only continued to respond to positive tweets about Aliens: Colonial Marines.

What do you think of the whole situation? Is Gearbox not taking the rejection well?
